16 Days of Activism

16 Days of Activism is a worldwide gender-based campaign that aims to raise awareness and strengthen local interventions against gender-based violence. The 16 days are from November 25 to December 10 and provide an opportunity for the community to band together to reject violence and encourage conversations about preventing violence.

ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM DISPLAY – FAMILY VIOLENCE IS A HEALTH ISSUE

Display at Maryborough Resource Centre foyer (outside the Maryborough Library)

Do you have an Elephant in your Room? Let’s start a conversation on gender-based violence and access posters, brochures and assistance services. A children’s colouring activity will also be available.

Presented by Women’s Health Loddon Mallee and the Greater Bendigo Against Family Violence network, Matt Brown will speak about his work in redefining masculinity to help end family violence affecting families throughout the world.

Hosted by Rotary Maryborough and Mill House, join Dr Lowen Clarke, Director of Creative and Therapeutic Arts, Millhouse, for the launch of a new campaign, The Options Game to help prevention of family violence.

The campaign is designed to help men become more able to observe themselves ‘losing it’ and pull themselves back from the brink.

For those seeking help with family violence the Orange Door Network is now providing a free service for people of all ages and backgrounds across the Loddon region. They can also provide support to families in need of support with the care, wellbeing and development of children. This includes support for those who may be concerned about friends, family, neighbours or community members experiencing family violence.
