With the 2018 Short Flix Festival Premiere Screening now just three weeks away, Central Goldfields Shire Council – Go Goldfields Short Flix Festival participants have added the finishing touches to their films and will enjoy a special preview screening today.
The 10 participants will view their final films at Maryborough Education Centre at 4pm with Indimax Productions, in preparation for the Premiere Screening on Saturday 13 October at Maryborough Paramount Theatre.
Since July, the participants have worked closely with professional filmmakers Indimax Productions in all facets of filmmaking including scriptwriting, editing, camera operation, lighting and directing, resulting in nine outstanding short films.
After a lot of hard work developing their film scripts, the young filmmakers, aged 13 to 20 years, spent two weekends in August filming before entering the post production phase, editing, adding colour, sound and credits.
Overall more than 40 young people and a host of families, staff and businesses from across the Shire have been involved in this project as support cast, crew, makeup and design.
Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said the Short Flix Festival provided young people in the Shire an opportunity to develop skills and learn more about creative storytelling.
This has been a really exciting project for local young people to tell visual stories while working and collaborating closely with professionals in the film industry,” he said.
“With just weeks to go until the Premiere Screening, I encourage anyone who is planning on going to grab a ticket while you still can.”
Ticekets to the Saturday event are now booked out. Due to popular demand – an extra screening has been added at 3pm on Sunday 14 October. Bookings not necessary - first in, best dressed.
