Our Central Goldfields Shire Pound cares for hundreds of lost and surrendered animals every year – including cats, dogs and various livestock including sheep, pigs, horses, poultry and cattle.
The Pound is an ideal place to visit if you are looking for a new animal addition to the family. It runs a very successful rehousing program for any lost animals looking for their forever homes.
Surrendered animals, or lost animals that are not claimed by their owners, enter the adoption process. All dogs and cats adopted are vaccinated, microchipped, desexed and treated for worms and fleas.
Thanks to the support of community donations our Pound is able to reduce the costs associated with adopting a cat or kitten.
Community donations contribute to subsiding the de-sexing cost of adopting a cat or kitten.
It usually costs around $180 to have a female kitten de-sexed and $120 for a male - but thanks to this initiative we are able to provide this service to residents for just $60 for a female and $35 for a male.
This reduced fee is more attractive to potential pet owners and means we are able to re-home our cats and kittens more easily.
Community donations are always welcomed and appreciated.
To make a donation, no matter how big or small, visit our Customer Service Team at the Shire Office, 48 Nolan Street, Maryborough or call our Pound Office on 0400 896 311.
