Have your say on the draft budget - Listening Post dates announced

Council’s draft budget for 2017-18 is currently on display.  Community members are invited to view the document and provide feedback.

The draft budget aims to enable Council to continue moving forward on existing and new initiatives while also maintaining a high standard of service delivery.  Council maintains excellent levels of service in many areas such as Health and Community Care, provision of Parks and Gardens, and waste management services, amongst others. 

The budget and prescribed information is available to download here, and printed copies are available for inspection at the Shire Office, Nolan Street Maryborough from Friday 31 March 2017 between 8:30am and 5:00pm until close of business Wednesday 17 May 2017.

Copies of the budget will also be available for inspection between 3 April and 17 May 2017, during normal business hours, at the following locations;

 

Listening Posts

Council is hosting Listening Posts for you to learn more about the draft budgetand to gain your feedback. Details are as follows:

Wednesday 10 May
Talbot Town Hall 4:30pm – 5:30pm
Tullaroop Leisure Centre, Carisbrook 6:00pm – 7:00pm

Thursday 11 May

Dunolly Town Hall 4:30pm – 5:30pm
Maryborough Community Hub 6:00pm – 7:00pm

Pursuant to Section 129 of the Local Government Act 1989 (the Act) any person may make a written submission to the Council on any proposal contained in the budget.

Submissions should be addressed to Chief Executive Officer, Central Goldfields Shire Council, PO Box 194 Maryborough 3465, and must be received by Council before 5pm on Wednesday 17 May 2017.

Submissions will be considered in accordance with Section 223 of the Act and any person who has made a submission may also indicate they wish to appear in support of their submission when Council meets to adopt the budget at the Ordinary Council meeting 23 May 2017.

 

From 8.30am on Tuesday, 26 January, Station Domain will come alive as Council presents the Australia Day awards, baby medallions and children’s books.

 

Following on, the Cleveland Cavaliers NBA game, featuring home grown sporting star Matthew Dellavedova, will be screened live. Cavaliers t-shirts will be given away, and a number of other prizes will be available to win.

 

There will also be a basketball clinic, free breakfast, giveaways, children’s entertainment and live music.

 

It’s sure to be a wonderful Australia Day celebration and fantastic family day out.
