At an Ordinary Meeting of Central Goldfields Shire Council on Tuesday 26 June, 2018 it was resolved to establish a Carisbrook Flood and Drainage Management Plan implementation community reference group.
Implementation of the Carisbrook Flood and Drainage Management Plan has commenced with creek clearing and levy construction. Stages 1 and 2 of the Flood Levy were completed and Stages 3 and 4 are on currently on hold pending Council acquisition of the land required for levy construction.
Central Goldfields Shire Chief Administrator Noel Harvey said it was clear that a new community reference group was needed to re-engage with the Carisbrook community to complete the levy and undertake additional creek clearing works.
“The Reference Group will work closely with Council staff and the community to effectively and efficiently deliver the remaining flood management infrastructure and develop ongoing management practices for the community to manage future flood events.
“The group will ensure a high level of community knowledge and satisfaction with future works and a better understanding of the levy system and associated works.”
Terms of Reference for the group were also endorsed at the meeting at last night with an expression of interest process to be advertised.
Membership will be voluntary and the group will form the basis of Council’s consultation with the community.
A report to the July Council Meeting will appoint membership to the Community Reference Group and the first meeting of the group is anticipated to be two weeks after the appointment.
