Urban stormwater is water that runs off hard surfaces in towns. It includes the pollution that the runoff carries with it. Unlike sewage, which is treated onsite or taken through a sewage treatment system, the stormwater generally flows untreated through a series of pipes and drains and into our waterways. The pollution impacts on water quality.
Council is implementing an Urban Stormwater Management Plan to improve water quality in natural (and man made) waterways in the municipality.
