Working together is the Plan.
Local government shapes communities by managing services, infrastructure and development. Councils act as a bridge between government policy and residents' needs requiring trust, communication and participation. Effective engagement includes public meetings, surveys, and advisory committees, ensuring residents can influence decisions.
Local community advocacy is essential in keeping councils responsive. This can take the form of grassroots movements, petitions, deputations, or partnerships with local organizations. Successful advocacy is proactive, well-researched and inclusive, amplifying diverse voices and driving positive change.
The Council Plan is a key strategic document linking our Council and the community. It outlines priorities, objectives and actions, ensuring decision-making reflects community views. Developed with public input it guides policies, funding and service delivery while aligning with broader government strategies at both the state and federal levels.
Strong local governance depends on an engaged community working alongside Council. Through meaningful consultation, advocacy and strategic planning, Council and residents can create sustainable, vibrant communities that reflect shared aspirations.
Join us for a special community evening to share your vision for the next four years and so contribute to Central Goldfields Shire’s next Council Plan. Your ideas and input will help navigate our path over this term of Council and our shared future priorities.
Together, we can build a thriving, inclusive and forward-thinking community. As we finalise the details of our local community meeting, I encourage you to think about what you would like to discuss. We’ll confirm the final details for the meeting (early in March) over the next few days. We look forward to seeing you!
