It’s time to get creative and start preparing your entry for the Central Goldfields Art Gallery’s popular Community Art exhibition.

The annual exhibition – to go on display from 28 November - is an opportunity for residents of Central Goldfields Shire and Avoca to have their visual arts talent showcased to visitors to the Gallery.

This year’s exhibition is expanded to include a special 9” x 5” category. Entrants can collect a 9 x 5 inch board from the Gallery for a small fee*, to use to create an artwork on a small and achievable scale.

This year there is also a special category for young people.

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Liesbeth Long said the Community Art exhibition provides the perfect introduction for those who would like to explore their creativity.

“Experimenting with your creative expression can be very therapeutic over the winter months - this exhibition opens the door for everyone to have a go.

“You don’t have to be Picasso or Pro Hart! Plus, with workshops held at the Gallery to support different styles of work, you can build your skills up and achieve something to be proud of.”

To help with inspiration for your entry, a series of community art-making workshops will be held at the Gallery, starting Wednesday 7 August, at 2pm.

Local artist Patricia Walsh will guide budding creatives through a landscape into art workshop – contact the Gallery to find out more and book your place.

You can collect an entry form to the Community Art and 9 x 5 Exhibition from Central Goldfields Art Gallery, Central Goldfields Shire Customer Service Centre at 22 Nolan Street, or download a copy from the Gallery website at: www.centralgoldfieldsartgallery.com.au

Entries for the Community Art Exhibition are due by 17 November 2024. Limit of one entry in the 9 x 5 and one entry in the community art section per artist.

Central Goldfields Art Gallery is in the Old Fire Station, 1 Neill Street, Maryborough. The Gallery is open from Thursday to Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm, and entry is free.
