At a Statutory Meeting of Central Goldfields Shire Council last night (26/11), Maryborough West Ward Councillor Grace La Vella was sworn in as Mayor, and Paddys Ranges Ward Councillor Ben Green was sworn in as Deputy Mayor for the next 12 months.
Mayor Cr Grace La Vella said she was excited to be working with our new Council.
“I’m honoured once again to be elected Mayor of our great Shire. We have plenty of hard work ahead and I’m relishing the challenge of working with all of our Councillors, helping to invigorate our beautiful part of the world for our community.”
Deputy Mayor Cr Ben Green said he was thrilled to be elected.
“I’m very proud to be entrusted with this important role in my first term as Councillor. I look forward to supporting our Mayor – and all of our Councillors over the coming year.”
Central Goldfields Shire Councillors were also appointed to various committees and statutory or regional bodies as part of the Statutory Meeting.
Representation on various committees is an important part of the role of a Councillor and provides Councillors with an opportunity to engage with our community and advocate on their behalf.
