The Central Goldfields Shire Draft Events Strategy 2024-2027 was endorsed by Councillors at this week’s Council Meeting – with community invited to provide feedback until 7 August.

The Draft Events Strategy has been developed in line with key community and tourism priorities. it will ensure that Council’s support for events aligns with the community’s broader goals and contributes to social, economic and cultural opportunities.

With the number of events continuing to rise post pandemic – Council has experienced an increased demand for services, support and complex compliance requirements.

The Draft Strategy is a practical guide that will support Council to:

  • establish consistency across all areas of our support for events including planning and delivery.
  • support facilitation of high-quality events for our Shire
  • provide community with a clear understanding of venue options and regulatory considerations.

Central Goldfields Shire Mayor Cr Liesbeth Long said the Draft Strategy would support Council and the community to plan and host events.

“From sport, culture, markets and community events – events bring our community together, attract visitors to our Shire and create opportunities for our community to enjoy.

“Last year we asked the community for feedback on events with around 60 residents taking the time to share their input.

“From this, it was clear events were a top priority for our residents across the Shire – not only for social connection and social cohesion but for the economic benefits they bring.

“Community feedback has helped us understand what our community is looking for when it comes to events and how we might tailor our future event offerings and support.

“I encourage the community to view the Draft Strategy and let us know what they think. Have we got it right? Is there anything we have missed? We look forward to your feedback.”

Community members are encouraged to view the Draft Events Strategy and provide feedback by visiting www.engage.cgoldshire.vic.gov.au/events

Feedback is invited until 3pm, Friday 7 August.
