A Total Fire Ban is in place today - Monday 16 December, 2024.

This means no fires can be lit in the open air between 12:01am until 11:59pm.

Extreme hot weather is also forecast today.

During extreme heat it is easy to become dehydated or for your body to overheat. Extreme heat can affect anybody and can cause serious and potentially fatal health problems.

You can beat the heat with these four simple tips:

1.Stay hydrated - keep a full drink bottle with you, take small sips of water frequently
2. Keep cool - use air conditioning or fans if available. Use damp towels or take a cool shower.
3. Plan ahead - keep up to date with weather forecasts. Plan essential activities in the coolest part of the day.
4. Check in with others - let family, friends and neighbours know you are ok or check in with those at increased risk who may need support.
