Live4Life Central Goldfields is hosting its first ever Crew-led End of Year celebration on Friday 25 October at Highview College. The Youth Live4Life model is about improving the mental health of young people. Live4Life Crew – made up of school students - are key in spreading positive mental health messaging and raising mental health awareness among young people.

The four upstanding Year 9 Crew members will deliver an engaging presentation to year 8 students, Highview teaching staff and distinguished guests, showcasing their achievements as Crew and highlighting their many experiences. They are also promoting the opportunity for year 8’s to join next year’s Crew. Guest Speaker at the event will be Anthony Gray who is giving an inspirational speech outlining his own mental health journey after becoming a quadriplegic.

Key achievements of the first ever Live4Life Central Goldfields Crew have included —

  • Development of their theme ‘Listen Up, Stand Up’ and their poster which encourages people to be an upstander and not a bystander, in standing up for mental health.  The 2024 Crew are the first ever Crew to have their poster displayed in an Art Gallery as part of the ‘Emergent Exhibition.’  You can also find their poster in local schools and businesses within our Shire.
  • Co-ordinating R U OK? day activities at Highview College,
  • Spreading mental health awareness at the YouthFest 2024 Colour Run event
  • Promoting Live4Life via the upcoming Energy Breakthrough.
  • Crew have also had the opportunity to develop new skills through professional development workshops delivered by Bounce Consulting
  • Participating in coordinated activities at the Crew Camp in Tylden.

The end of year celebration event is supported by Headspace, Maryborough District Health Service and Council Youth Services who provide a range of educational information and activities, including ‘smoothie bikes’ and dodgeball.

Live4Life Central Goldfields are proud of the efforts of Crew members Ella Govan, Connor Alexander, Josh Holm and Curtis Wright in being mental health advocates within Highview College and the broader community. It is with much excitement that we look forward to seeing what the 2025 Life4Life Central Goldfields crew will achieve.
