    ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

We are currently inviting community feedback on projects that support access for all in local sport:

    This Girl Can

We know physical activity and exercise leads to good health and wellbeing, that’s why we want to see as many women, girls and LGBTQI+ women being active as possible.

To support this, we are partnering with Sports Focus, to plan the Victorian Government’s This Girl Can campaign later this year.

This Girl Can is a campaign aims to inspire women to get active – however, wherever and whenever they choose, without being judged.

To help us develop a program of activities that meets the needs of our community – we need your input.

We invite you to share your experiences, feelings, challenges and beliefs when it comes to participating in sport by completing a short survey.

    Draft Fair Access Policy

We are seeking feedback on our draft Fair Access Policy which will ensure that everyone in our community has the opportunity to participate in community sport.

We have drafted a Fair Access Policy to provide a consistent framework to support women and girls, men and boys, gender diverse people and people with disability with opportunities to participate.

The new policy is in response to the Fair Access Policy Roadmap, released by the Office for Women in Sport in partnership with Sport and Recreation Victoria and VicHealth, and aims to develop a state-wide foundation to improve the access to, and use of, community sports infrastructure for women, girls and others.

From July 1, 2024, all Victorian councils will need to have a Fair Access Policy in place to be considered eligible to receive infrastructure funding.

This policy will ensure that women, girls and others can fully participate in and enjoy the benefits of community sport, with fair opportunity and equitable access to their local facilities.

SCHOOL CROSSINGS

Rain, hail or shine our school crossing supervisors play an important role in our community in keeping our local school children safe. School crossing supervisors are a Council service – funded through the Victorian Government.

The Victorian Government Department of Transport and Planning, along with Road Safety Victoria and Road Safety Partnerships are working with Council to review the school crossing locations in our Shire. This review will help identify where additional crossings might be needed and where current crossings may no longer be required and replaced with road treatments.

We will be working with any affected schools to notify of any changes.

Also, school’s back on Monday, so please remember to slow down to 40km/h around school crossings.

Also, a reminder that registration tags are required to be worn by your dog.

They are required under legislation, but they also have benefits for you. If your dog is found at large, it can be returned to straight to your home instead of being taken to the pound for microchip scanning.
