NEW WEBSITE

On Wednesday 26 June, we’ll be launching our refreshed Council website. The new website will make it easier for you to find the information you are looking for,

will be easier to read, to navigate and most importantly, up to date.

If you visit our website from now until the end of June, you may notice the website will be under maintenance.

During this period, you’ll still be able to access all pages on the website, though we recommend using the ‘search’ function.

Thank you for your patience and we look forward to providing a much improved website.

TALBOT SEPTIC HEALTH CHECKS

Commencing in June, our Environmental Health team will be conducting free health checks of existing septic tank systems in specific areas of Talbot.

The purpose of the health checks is to educate property owners about care and maintenance of their systems.

The checks will also allow us to update our data that will help inform future decision making including the business case for reticulated sewerage in Talbot.

Property owners, who will benefit from the proposed reticulated sewerage system, have been sent a letter regarding the checks.

Talbot residents who have received a letter and would like more information, or would like to make an appointment, can contact our Environmental Health team by calling our Customer Service on 5461 0610 or by emailing: mail@cgoldshire.vic.gov.au

POOLS UPDATE

Indoor Pool

We are all looking forward to the re-opening of the heated pool at the Maryborough Sports and Leisure Centre.

The project to re-tile the 25-metre pool is finished and the pool is now being filled, heated and tested.

The pool will re-open mid-June, with an exact date to be confirmed early next week.

We appreciate your patience.

This project was made possible with funding through the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program.

Outdoor Pool

Whilst Council remains committed to seeing the Maryborough Olympic Pool Complex restored and re-opened, at this week’s Council Meeting, a decision was made to defer the Victorian Government funding application.

Council was recently notified that the funding application to the Federal Government’s Growing Regions Fund for the Maryborough Olympic Pool Complex was unsuccessful.

Considered as an Urgent Business item at the Meeting, the Officers Report recommended that Council confirm a co-contribution to the Victorian Government’s Sport and Recreation Victoria Regional Community and Sports Infrastructure Fund application through $4 million in future borrowings.

Council decided to defer the commitment to contribute to the project through borrowings until further information and options are able to be considered.

PITCH YOUR GRANT

We know that funding to deliver projects, events and activities can be challenging to access.

That’s why a series of grant writing workshops was designed to help give you the skills and info you need to write successful applications. The workshops were led by the Maryborough Volunteer Resource Centre with our support.

We encourage you to join us at the Maryborough Community Hub for ‘Pitch Night and Putting Your Grant Application Together’ on Monday 17 June, 6.30pm.

For more information email maryboroughvrc@gmail.com or phone Tony Macer on 0400 029 068.
