IMMUNISATIONS

Whooping Cough

Cases of whooping cough (pertussis) continue to increase in regional Victoria, particularly among school-aged children.

Immunisation is the best way to reduce the risk of whooping cough and is recommended for babies and pregnant women to reduce the risk of infection and its possible complications.

To be effective, a booster vaccine is required every ten years. The vaccine is free for pregnant women and children.

Mpox

Mpox is caused by the monkeypox virus and there is currently a global outbreak.

It's spread by skin-to-skin contact, and also from contaminated bedding. Intimate contact with those recently returned from outbreak areas overseas are most at risk.

The immunisation is free for those likely to be at risk.

To make an appointment for either vaccine, contact our Immunisation team at Goldfields Family Centre by calling 0428 894 724, or email: immunisation@cgoldshire.vic.gov.au

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!

Volunteering at Energy Breakthrough is a fantastic way of making a valuable contribution and real difference in your community. Our volunteer team is proudly supported by Community Bank Avoca Maryborough and St Arnaud.

We need over 700 volunteers to come together in Maryborough each November to help make the event memorable, fun and safe for 5,000 students from 100 schools in over 250 teams.

We offer a wide range of volunteering roles and invite you to match your skills and experience with areas of interest to you.

Roles available include: judges, marshals, communications, photography, social media content, operations centre, track side entertainment and many more!

This year, we also need volunteers to help promote the event’s ‘waste wise’ message as part of the Waste Education team. This is an opportunity to help guide patrons to sort their waste, reducing landfill and recycling their utensils.

MAINTENANCE CLOSURE

The Coronation Park toilet block on Park Road, Maryborough has been closed for maintenance works, following vandal damage.

As sections of sewer pipe also need replacement, the closure is expected to last some weeks. We’ll keep you up-to-date as works progress.

Nearby public toilets on Park Road at the Princes Park Grandstand are unaffected.

If you or your club are interested in hosting an event as part of This Girl Can, or would like more information, please contact our Project Officer Jasmine Mcculloch by emailing: mail@cgoldfields.vic.gov.au
