GRANDSTAND PLAN

The Prince’s Park Grandstand is an iconic landmark in Maryborough and the backdrop to community sport and the award-winning Energy Breakthrough event.

Now it is the time for us to advocate so that the Grandstand can be refurbished and preserved for generations to come.

Our first step is to get clear on what our community needs and to develop detailed designs to support funding opportunities when suitable grants become available.

We will soon be advertising a tender for an architect to help lead this work. Once appointed we’ll be calling for our community to help with this process.

You can register your interest in this process and receive direct, regular updates on progress:

POOLS UPDATE:

Maryborough Sports and Leisure Centre

The indoor pool at the Centre closed on March 4 for a re-tiling project, after 25 years of use. The gym and basketball facilities remain open and will be unaffected by the works. The pool will re-open in late May 2024.

Talbot and Dunolly Pools

The outdoor pool season has been extended through March until Monday, 1 April for free community use. Both pools open from 3pm to 7pm on school days, and from 1pm to 7pm on weekends, school holidays and public holidays when the temperature is 25 degrees or more.

Maryborough Municipal Olympic Pool

In 2022 the heritage-listed Maryborough Outdoor Pool was deemed unsafe for use. We have received some funding, allowing the re-build of the octagonal pool. We are currently seeking funding  to re-build the 50 metre pool so that it can re-open to community use. We will keep our community informed at every stage as we work through the process.

ROAD RESURFACING

Our busy road resurfacing program continues with contractors completing Camp and Barkly Streets, Talbot as part of this week’s schedule.

Other areas refurbished in recent days include Carisbrook, Bealiba, and several streets in Maryborough. The schedule needs to be completed before cold weather sets in.

Restricted access to roads is usually only for a short time so we ask motorists to take care, following the directions of traffic controllers and keeping to speed limits.
