ELECTON UPDATE

The 2024 Council Election is being held by mail, with ballot packs posted out this week from Monday 7 October. If you do not receive your ballot pack by Tuesday 15 October, contact the Victorian Electoral Commission by phoning 131 832.

Completed ballots must be posted or delivered in person to our Electoral Office at 53 Burns Street, Maryborough by 6pm, Friday 25 October.

Please note, voters enrolled in Maryborough West and Tullaroop Wards will not get a ballot pack in the mail. As there was only one nominee in those wards, they are uncontested and no vote is required.

MARTIN RESERVE OPENS

Last year we developed a landscape plan to beautify Martin Reserve (previously known as Quinn Street Reserve) to make it more accessible and appealing. A project to deliver a series of upgrades at the site are now complete.

The project delivered: bus shelter, picnic table and shelter, re-dressing of existing gravel paths, deciduous trees and medium sized shrubs for along the fence line.

We know a bus service to Whirrakee Rise is a top priority for residents. With the bus shelter constructed, we are now in discussions to extend the current service.

FOOD SYSTEMS ROADMAP

Earlier this week the Central Goldfields Food Network met to progress the roll-out of the Central Goldfields Food Systems Roadmap.

More than 230 community members and stakeholders contributed to the Roadmap. Your feedback helped form a set of recommendations, showing how we can work together to build a local food system that supports equity, social connection, and healthy eating for everyone in the community.

The Roadmap’s recommendations include steps that anyone in the community can take to get involved.

The Roadmap was developed by Sustain – The Australian Food Network, in partnership with the Central Goldfields Food Network, with funding from VicHealth.

OPERATIONS UPDATE

Christian and Burke streets in Maryborough are expected to reopen for the weekend following drainage works, in preparation for road resurfacing later in the year.

Laidlaw Street in Maryborough now has new kerbing and improved driveway access. We’d like to thank residents in the area for their patience over the past few weeks during these works.

This week maintenance grading was carried out along Baker and Collings rRoads, Amheurst, while faded line marking at intersections, parking areas and bus stops in Dunolly were refreshed.

Coronation Park toilet facilities will reopen next week, after vandalism forced their recent closure. During the closure, sewer pipe replacement scheduled for later in the year was completed.
