You’re invited to a guided tour and talk about Clay on Country – ceramics from the central desert on Wednesday 19 March at 10.30am. Bookings: phone 5461 6600
Join Gallery Coordinator Helen Kaptein (pictured below) and learn about this major exhibition – a celebration of clay, community and culture from thirty-five central Australian artists and collectives.
Presented in partnership with the Art Gallery of Ballarat, this is the only venue in Victoria to present Clay on Country, thanks to Artback NT and the Australian Government.

BUSINESS EXPO
We’re supporting the Central Goldfields Village Business Expo, a joint initiative of the Committee for Maryborough and Village Business.
Now is the time to join in as an exhibitor or sponsor, to showcase your services and products in this unique event at Maryborough Harness Racing Club on Friday 9 May.
Over 200 businesspeople from across Central Goldfields and adjoining shires come together to connect and network, seek new business and commercial opportunities, and meet with government leaders from local, state and federal levels.
There’s also hands-on workshops, marketing, finance and legal advice, mentors and potential partnerships.

CHECK YOUR LETTERBOX!
Autumn is here and so is the latest edition of our Community Update magazine.
You can read it online at www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/communityupdate or keep an eye out in your letterbox next week.
In our latest edition we invite you to share with us ‘what matters to you.” As part of our Council Plan process, your feedback will help decide where we should focus our resources and efforts to best support our community over the next four years.
We know our community is keen to better understand why the Maryborough Olympic Outdoor Pool Complex is closed and what it will take to see it re-opened. We’ve worked in partnership with The Friends of the Maryborough Outdoor Pool Precinct to provide answers to the most frequently asked questions.
There’s also information about the 4-bin system which will be introduced in 2027, profiles on this year’s Australia Day Award recipients plus an invitation to our National Volunteer Week thank you event in May.
Happy reading!

BIN CHANGES
The Victorian Government is standardising household waste and recycling services across the state.
This means the way you use your bins at home will change by July 2027.
To help us prepare for the transition, we’re inviting residents to share their feedback on waste.
This will help us roll out the new 4-bin service that best meets the needs of our community.
You can find out more and provide feedback by chatting to our waste team in person at: Talbot Farmers Market (Sundays: 16 March, 18 May and 15 June) and Dunolly Country Market (Sundays: 23 March, 27 April and 22 June).

ANIMAL REGISTRATIONS
Animal registrations are due by 10 April and renewal notices will soon be issued by mail.
To register a new pet, phone 5461 0610 or visit our Customer Service Centre, 22 Nolan Street, Maryborough.
Registering a dog or cat greatly improves the chances of it being returned if it becomes lost. There are substantial discounts for desexed cats and dogs, with further discounts for pensioners.
There are also fines up to $400 for unregistered pets.
If you have a cat that needs desexing and registration, we have a special offer that can help for one low fee, thanks to the Victorian Government’s Targeted Cat Desexing Program.

SPORTS CLUBS AND VAPING
Vaping is a significant health issue, especially among our young people. Sports coaches, officials and club volunteers can make a real difference.
We’ve teamed up with Good Sports and VicHealth to help local clubs tackle the problem of vaping with a tailored, face-to-face workshop for our local sporting leaders.
It’ll give you all the key information you need to know on vaping and show you how your club can support players to be vape free.
This 45-minute workshop will be held at Maryborough Tennis Centre, 8 Lake Road on Tuesday 18 March at 6pm. It’s free to attend, but registration is essential. Light refreshments will be provided.
For further information visit: www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/vapefree

WHAT’S A STORY WALK?
StoryWalks are a fun and educational activity that places a children’s story (literally a book taken apart!) along a popular walking route in the community. They are a physical activity and a literary experience in one.
Join us for the official opening of the new Maryborough StoryWalk after school on Tuesday 18 March at 3.45pm.
The launch, which will feature free fruit platters and a drawing competition, will commence at the Maryborough Library before walking the new StoryWalk through Phillips Gardens.
It’s free and everyone is welcome to simply turn up. For further information visit: www.centralgoldfields.vic.gov.au/storywalk

SHARE WHAT MATTERS TO YOU
Have you taken the time to share what matters to you?
We’re currently developing our Council Plan which sets out the key priorities that Council will focus on over the next four years.
It will also help to make sure that our everyday work is aligned with realising the Central Goldfields Shire Community Vision 2031.
For the first time, our Council Plan will also incorporate the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan. This will ensure that improving and promoting our community’s health and wellbeing is at the centre of everything we do.
By spending a few minutes, you can help decide where we will focus our resources and efforts to best support our community.
The first round of feedback is invited until Friday 28 March and can be provided via:
