Our Go Goldfields team have won two awards at the Department of Education Victorian Early Years Awards last week.

The team have taken home the honours in the following two categories:

  • Continuity of Early Learning - Great Start to School Program
  • Supporting Parents to Build their Capacity and Confidence –The Nest

We are proud to see the of work of Go Goldfields publicly recognised and celebrated at state level.

The Great Start to School Program and The Nest are just two examples of the valuable work the team are doing to provide local children with the best start to life in the Central Goldfields Shire.

PATHS AHEAD

Our Roads and Works team has completed a new footpath in Birch Street, Carisbrook this week.

The team also maintains over 50 kilometres of footpaths across the Shire, adding 300 metres each year. Additional paths have been constructed in Dunolly, Talbot and over several stretches in Maryborough so far in 2024.

The Asset Maintenance team has been busy on finishing touches at the Maryborough Town Hall, repairs at Goldfields Family Centre, and seating around Princes Park in preparation for Energy Breakthrough next week.

The Open Spaces team has been planting garden beds, installing Christmas decorations and keeping up with spring growth. Due to the grass curing and favourable weather, contractors will commence roadside slashing on 18 November. All slashing operations are accompanied by fire prevention support vehicles.

ENERGY BREAKTHROUGH

It’s our biggest event of the year! With over 15,000 people gathered in and around Maryborough’s Princes Park – including many children, safety is paramount.

The road closures shown in the map (below) detail exactly how the event is organised to limit traffic, and enable a great time for them all.

Please note in addition:

  • Park Road from Holyrood to Gladstone streets allows resident access at the Gladstone Street (Golf Club end)
  • Holyrood Street resident access is from the Burns Street end
  • Burns Street resident access is paused when main track is in use
  • Dellavedova customers access at Holyrood Street end

VACCINE AVAILABLE

Mpox is caused by the monkeypox virus and there is currently a global outbreak. Australia has the second-highest reported rate, behind Africa.

It's spread by skin-to-skin contact or from contaminated bedding. Intimate contact with those recently returned from outbreak areas overseas are most at risk.

However our local Immunisation team now has stocks of the vaccine, which is free for those likely to be at risk.

Give our team a call on 0428 894 724 or email: Immunisation@cgoldshire.vic.gov.au
