ANIMALS AND ROADS

Our Animal Control team is reminding the community of the dangers of wandering animals – especially on rural roadsides where the speed limit is 100 km/h, and especially at night.

Livestock is attracted to lush, untouched grass outside the fence-line around waterways, especially at this time of year with low feed levels on paddocks.

The team recommends:

  • Doing a ‘ride around’ to check for damaged fencing
  • Ensure hard feeding is adequate
  • Working with neighbours to reduce risk of escaping animals

For urgent Animal Control assistance, phone 5461 0610 during business hours, or 0407 508 448 out-of-hours.

PUBLIC FACILITY REFURBISHMENT

Due to vandalism the Maryborough Station Domain toilet block has been closed for public safety and extensive refurbishment. Work has started and is expected to take a couple of weeks.

When open, the Community Hub building has accessible male/female and baby changing facilities on the ground floor. Entry is from rear carpark (as shown on graphic below).

At other times, the nearest facilities are on the Maryborough Railway Station platform or at the Goldfields Shopping Centre (Coles/Kmart supermarket complex).

If you have any information about vandalism of community facilities, contact Maryborough Police on 5460 3310.

If you find damaged or unclean facilities in our Shire, look for the newly installed QR codes inside for immediate reporting to our Facilities Maintenance team. If the matter is urgent and out-of-hours, phone 0419 005 577.
