ELECTON PERIOD

The 2024 Council Election will be held by mail, with ballot packs being mailed out from Monday 7 October.

Completed ballots must be posted by 6pm, Friday 25 October. Voting is compulsory.

We entered Election Period from 12noon, Tuesday 17 September. The Election Period ends on Saturday 26 October.

During this period, it will be ‘business as usual’, however, to comply with our Election Period Policy and the Local Government Act 2020, there are restrictions on the kinds of decisions that can be made, and the information that we can communicate to the public.

This is to ensure Council actions don't influence voting in the election. For all information about candidates visit: www.vec.vic.gov.au

We’re partnering with SportsFocus to put together a calendar of physical activities for all women, girls and non-binary people to celebrate VicHealth’s This Girl Can Week.

Between 14 and 27 October we’ll be offering a range of different sessions that are safe, inclusive and fun!

If you or your club are interested in hosting an event as part of This Girl Can, or would like more information, please contact our Project Officer Jasmine Mcculloch by emailing: mail@cgoldfields.vic.gov.au

WHIRRAKEE RISE WORKS

Last year we developed a landscape plan to beautify Martin Reserve (previously known as Quinn Street Reserve) to make it more accessible and appealing.

Keeping in mind our budget and what components were most important to you, the project will deliver: bus shelter, picnic table and shelter, re-dressing of existing gravel paths, deciduous trees and medium sized shrubs for along the fence line.

The project has now commenced and is being delivered by local contactors S Dell Plumbing and Heenan Home and Construction. The works are expected to take 4 to 6 weeks.

KITTEN SEASON

P1200836.jpg

Year 5 Quinn and year 6 Zoe from Maryborough Education Centre wanted to help care for animals. So the two girls started making bracelets and selling them to fellow students and friends to raise funds.

150 bracelets later, they have just donated 91 cans of kitten food to our pound – just in time for the upcoming kitten season!

If you’d like to do your bit, you can take advantage of our special offer for cat desexing, microchipping and registration for just $70. Places are limited.

Vouchers are available from this week at our Customer Service Centre in Nolan Street. Our feline management program is supported by the Department of Agriculture’s Animal Welfare Victoria.
