BIG THANKS
We’d like to extend a big thank you to sponsors, local businesses, community groups and organisations, local schools and students, tourism operators and the wider community for supporting and making our visitors feel welcome at Energy Breakthrough 2024.
Plus, our army of 700+ generous and hard-working volunteers, without whom our biggest event of the year would not be possible.
The event grew in size again this year, expected to be bigger and better when it returns next year from 19 to 23 November 2025.
OPERATIONS REPORT
A new footpath is being constructed in Alice Street Dunolly, between Bull Street and Thompson Street. Completion is expected in two or three weeks, depending on the weather.
The Carisbrook Lions Building upgrade is now well underway, receiving some much needed love and attention. The Operations Maintenance team expect to finish the work in the new year.
BIKE STATION
Great news for Carisbrook! A new bike repair station has been installed at Market Reserve thanks to the Victorian Government’s Healthy Loddon Campaspe initiative.
This is in addition to the bike repair station installed at Maryborough’s Skate and Scooter Park with another to be installed at Gordon Gardens, Dunolly next week.
It’s all part of supporting the community to make active travel an easier option, allowing regular bike upkeep or repairs when riding for fun or travelling around our Shire.
ROADSIDE SLASHING
Our roadside slashing program is continuing as weather permits. For fire safety, all of our crews and contractors are followed by Fire Prevention Vehicles. Slashing is also paused on days of Total Fire Ban or other extreme weather.
Our aim is to reduce roadside fire risk and improve driver safety as early as possible, but without encouraging further growth which may increase risk in the new year. Most roadsides are slashed three metres on either side, with some designated areas slashed from fence-to-fence to create fire breaks, as advised by the local CFA.
We ask motorists to take care and look out for support vehicles with their warning signs and fire safety equipment. We also ask residents to consider fire danger when reducing fuel loads on their properties.
COMMUNITY ART ON DISPLAY
The artistic flair of our local people goes on show this week, at the opening of the Community Art and 9x5 exhibition at Central Goldfields Art Gallery.
Everyone is invited to our free celebration tomorrow, Saturday 30 November at 2pm. Enjoy food and drink, with music and a festive atmosphere as a record number of entries showcases the diversity of creativity from our Shire and Avoca.
