ROAD SAFETY UPGRADES
$2 million of road improvement projects will be rolled out in Central Goldfields over the next 18 months. These include 10 intersection upgrades for the safety of drivers, cyclists and pedestrians
This is thanks to funding from the Victorian Government's Safe Local Roads and Streets program, delivered in partnership with the Transport Accident Commission.
Projects were selected based on their potential to reduce the risk of serious accidents.

FEEDING ENERGY BREAKTHROUGH
The award-winning Energy Breakthrough event is operated by a small team of staff and an army of fantastic volunteers - plus a host of community groups providing food and drink.
Expressions of Interest are now open for community groups to supply catering, helping our premier community event and generating much needed fundraising for their local groups and clubs.
Energy Breakthrough attracts over 17,000 students, teachers and parents, with around 5,000 camping onsite. For further details, or to submit an application before 11 September, visit:

Carisbrook Levee Review
At a Community Meeting in Carisbrook this week, the findings and recommendations of the Carisbrook Levee Independent Review were shared with residents.
Over the past two months, independent engineer Fred Spain, with support from the Carisbrook Levee Reference Group, has been reviewing the Carisbrook Levee and Tullaroop Creek.
His report has made suggestions including conducting an internal flood study and developing a detailed maintenance and improvement program to ensure the levee functions as designed.
The live recording of the community meeting is available to view on our Facebook page and You Tube channel.
The report is also available for the community to read, and you can provide feedback until 3pm, Monday 26 August.

Your Local Law Review
We’re inviting you to review our new Draft Local Law 2025-2035, covering a range of diverse topics from unsightly land, fire safety, animals, roadside, reserves and footpath trading to planting on nature strips and building sites.
Around 90 community members have already helped shape our Draft Local Law by meeting with us at towns across our Shire late last year. Based on community feedback, there are a number of changes and additions relating to shopping trolleys, shipping containers, burning in open spaces, animals, camping, dogs in public places and many others.
We encourage you to take this quick survey to let us know your thoughts on the new Draft Local Law, which will apply for the next ten years. The survey is open until 3pm, Friday 30 August.

Local Area Action Plan (LAAP)
Last year, we asked local tourism operators to join us at roundtables to discuss their priorities and approach to growing tourism in the region.
This work was in partnership with Bendigo Regional Tourism, to help create a Destination Management Plan for the region and a Local Area Action Plan (LAAP) for our Shire.
We are eager to hear your feedback on the Draft Plan, so we can work together on implementing it across the Shire.
You can read the plan and give feedback until Wednesday 14 August at 3pm.

Princes Park Grandstand
We recently invited key groups who call the Grandstand home to meet and explain to us how they currently use the space. Now we want to hear from the broader community about your experience with the Grandstand, and how you see it being used into the future.
This helps us apply for funding opportunities when suitable grants become available.
We also encourage you to upload an image of your favourite memory at the Grandstand, which may be incorporated into the project.

Events Strategy
Events bring our community together, attract visitors to our Shire and create opportunities for everyone to enjoy. Thank you to those who gave us feedback on our Draft Events Strategy.
This will ensure consistency in how we support events and provide a clearer understanding of venue options and regulatory considerations to event organisers. The new Strategy will be a four-year, guiding document aligning with the aspirations of the Council Plan.
Feedback closed Wednesday 7 August. To see the Draft Events Strategy visit:
