Planning and building
Planning permits and building permits are controlled by different laws and regulations. These permits are required by law and are designed to protect us. You may be required to obtain one or both of these permits depending on your project. It is important to understand the difference between planning and building to assist in applying for the right permits for your project.
- A building permit is a legal document certifying that a proposed build is structurally safe and that the works comply with the relevant state building regulations.
- Your project may be inspected by a private building surveyor, or if you choose, by Council. These inspections will be carried out at key stages in your projects
